I am Sun Jingyi, from China and I am a first-year master student. It has been almost a year since I came to Tohoku University unconsciously. During this period, I passed the examination and I am honored to officially become a member of ITO and MUKU laboratory. This year has been a busy, fulfilling and delight year for me, and I want to share some of my thoughts.
Due to the coronavirus, this year’s lectures and research discussions have been taken online.
In terms of lectures, apart from being unable to communicate face-to-face with professors and to meet new classmates, online classes are also beneficial to me. For me, not very good at Japanese, it is very friendly to be able to watch the lecture videos repeatedly when I do not understand the knowledge points.
In terms of research, most of the time is done at home. In order to improve my office environment, my mentor, Mr. Mukuhira, very kindly sent me computer monitors and other office equipments. And when I encountered a problem in research, Mr. Mukuhira would also be willing to discuss with me on video and give me suggestions to help me solve the problem. In addition, our laboratory, as usual, holds seminars and parties online. Although I am at home, all of this makes me feel like I am in a research room, and I am very satisfied every day.
Soon the second semester will begin, and I know that no matter what, there will be many challenges waiting for me. But I believe that with the help of my supervisor and members of the laboratory, I will overcome them!
